Hot Colours
Bright bold jumpers and sweaters are an easy way to transition from a summer to an autumn wardrobe. Choose a bold hue to lift a plain outfit or go all out with tonal shades. Easy to pair with jeans or leather trousers. A bright knit gives you the opportunity to experiment with something new without committing to a full outfit.
Earth and Neutral tones
Neutrals are perfect for timeless and sophisticated looks. Warm browns, rich greens and beiges all complement the Autumn season’s natural beauty. All softer alternatives to black and the perfect building block to your Autumn and Winter capsule wardrobe. These are classic tones that will keep you looking chic from season to season.
Be Brave
These jumpers are designed to stand out and create excitement. Don’t be a wallflower and add a little bit of fun to your wardrobe this Autumn. Play with statement graphics to create upbeat looks. These styles perfectly match this season’s favourite trend of leather trousers and satin slip skirts.
Just like having your very own stylist, Jane Young can help find you the perfect sweater this autumn. How to take care of your knitwear – Our stylist’s 6 top tips
1. Hand Wash with Care
To preserve the quality of your knitwear, opt for gentle hand washing. Use cold water and a mild detergent or baby shampoo. Gently agitate the water and soak your knitwear. Avoid wringing or stretching, which can cause distortion. Rinse thoroughly with cold water until the detergent is completely removed.
2. Lie flat to dry
After washing, never hang your knitwear, as this can cause it to lose its shape. Instead, lay it flat on a clean, dry towel. Gently reshape it to its original dimensions and let it air dry away from direct sunlight or a heat source such as a radiator.
3. Avoid overwashing
Surprisingly knitwear doesn’t need frequent washing. Unless it’s soiled, airing it out after wear is often sufficient. Overwashing can lead to pilling and wear, so try to restrain from washing your favourite knits to often.
4. Invest in a sweater shaver
To keep your knitwear looking fresh, consider using a sweater shaver or fabric comb to remove any pilling that may occur over time. It’s a quick and easy way to maintain the appearance of your knitwear. Gently run the shaver over the pilled areas, taking care not to damage or snag the fabric. Regular maintenance will keep your knitwear looking fresh.
5. Store properly
When you’re not wearing your knitwear, store it properly to prevent stretching or misshaping. Carefully fold your knit items instead of hanging them in your wardrobe, as hangers can lead to the fabric stretching over time. If you do have limited space, use padded hangers to best maintain the garment’s shape.
6. Protect from moths
Moths are attracted to natural fibres, especially cashmere. So it is essential to protect your knitwear from these pests. Store your knit items in airtight bags or containers, and consider using moth repellents like cedar blocks or lavender sachets in your storage areas to keep your knitwear safe from moth damage.
